HERMITAGE-Ronald A. Solyan passed away peacefully at his home on July 14, 2017, he was 79.
Ron was born September 16, 1937 to Andrew Solyan and Anna Solyan-Miklos.
He attended Sharon High School and joined the US Navy in 1952 where he completed his education. After training he served aboard the USS Ranger aircraft carrier during the Korean war.
He started as an auto mechanic for Babnis Auto Clinic then for Warner & Smith Motor Freight as the maintenance supervisor. In 1978, he and his wife Carol started and operated The Framing Loft Inc. where he worked until retirement in 2002. The business is still operated by his son, now in its 38th year of business.
Ron loved cars and racing, and in 1969 he was the chief mechanic on a Chevy Nova which was called “The Animal” that was a D/MP record holder. He later purchased the Nova and over the years the race car evolved though many changes. Then along with his son Jeff, for nearly 2 decades they attended numerous NHRA and IHRA events across the eastern US earning 3 IHRA National Event Titles several top Ten IHRA championship titles.
He is survived by his son Jeffrey Solyan and his wife Sheila, and their children Lainey and Landon, Hermitage, PA; by his daughter Amy Balaska and her husband Kevin and their children Leah and Carson, Lexington, SC; and by his business partner and former wife Carol Solyan of Hermitage.
He was preceded in death by his parents along with two brothers Michael Solyan and Jerry Miklos and his sister Dorothy Zimmer.
A Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday August 5th, 2017 at his home from 4:00-7:00PM.
