YOUNGSTOWN-Rita E. Rosen 88, formerly of Jamestown, PA passed away on Monday September 17, 2018 at Heritage Manor in Youngstown following an extended illness.
She was born in Beaver Falls, PA on June 1, 1930 the daughter of Harry and Lillian (Steele) Falkinson. Rita was a graduate of New Brighton High School and had worked as a switch board operator for Thiel College for several years. Later in life, Rita became the oldest member of an English Composition Course at Penn State University and was very proud of earning an A+ grade for her works.
She was a longtime member of the former Temple Beth Israel, Sharon, and a current member of the Congregation Rodef Sholom, Youngstown. In Sharon, she was a lifelong member and past president of Hadassah and had also served as past president of the Temple Sisterhood.
Rita is survived by her sons Alan Rosen of Flint, MI, Marc Rosen of Denver, CO, and Kenneth Rosen of Sharpsville, PA; and by her grandchildren Elana and Seth.
She was preceded in death by husband Melvin F. Rosen and by her granddaughter Samantha Erin Rosen.
A graveside service will be held on Friday September 21, 2018 at 1:00PM at Temple Beth Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Franklin W. Muller D.D. of Congregation Rodef Sholom, Youngstown, officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of the Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home 555 East State Street Sharon, PA 16146.
