Mary Ann O’Hare formerly of 680 Fairfield Drive in Hermitage, passed away on Sunday evening June 25, 2017 at the Caring Place in Franklin, PA. Her passing was result of complications from a broken hip, she was eighty-six years old.
Born in Farrell, on August 8, 1930, she was the daughter of George and Margaret Giroski.
She was a 1948 graduate of Farrell High School and married her sweetheart Paul O’Hare on September 11, 1956.
During World War II, Mary Ann worked assembling torpedo’s at the Westinghouse Plant in Sharon, she also worked for many years for the George & Thomas Cone Company factory in numerous capacities and retired from Fashion Bug in the Shenango Valley Mall in 1992. Mary Ann was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Sharon where she had taught Sunday School.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Ann enjoyed bingo, jigsaw puzzles and bus trips. She was past member of the Friday Nite Mixed Bowling League and Tuesday Morning Ladies Breakfast Club at Ten Pin Alley, and a fan of the Cleveland Indians.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years on June 28, 2000, her parents, her sister Marjorie Bavola, twin brothers John and George Giroski, and an infant granddaughter Hope O’Hare.
Mary leaves behind her children Gary O’Hare of Burlington, VT David O’Hare and his wife Beth of Bay Village, OH, Sheary Leary and her husband Jim of Jackson, NJ and Sharon Redick and her husband Dean of Franklin, PA; and her devoted and loving friend for the past fifteen years Anthony Walzer. In addition she is survived by eight grandchildren Deanne Peterson, Rachel Wickline, Alyssa and Ian Leary, Erika and Matthew O’Hare, and Christine and Sarah O’Hare; and by her five great-grandchildren Eric and Lucy Peterson, Brett Wickline, Dimitri and Emmett O’Hare.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening June 29, 2017 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home 555 East State Street Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM on Friday morning at the funeral home with Rev. John M. Trojak, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Sharon officiating.
Interment will be next to her husband Paul at Oakwood Cemetery.
