Lela Mae Steingrabe
October 11, 1924 — February 19, 2016
Mrs. Lela M. Steingrabe, 91, passed away peacefully early Friday morning February 19, 2016 at UPMC Horizon in Farrell, PA.
Lela was born in Sharon, PA on October 11, 1924 a daughter Edward L. and Grace L. (Edmunds) Orndorff.
Lela had worked as a Nurse’s Aid for many years at both Sharon Regional Hospital and at Clepper Manor before her retirement. She was a member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and had enjoyed working in her flower garden as well as numerous crossword puzzles.
She will be sadly missed by her son George Messersmith of Wheatland; daughters Rita (Don) Hurd of Brunswick, OH, Tina (Paul) Rohrdanz of Masury, OH, and Bonnie Kline of Wheatland; six grandchildren Paul Kaldy, Randy Rohrdanz, Melissa Cummings, Tammy McCann, Tracey Taylor, and Amy Kline; ten great-grandchildren Sabrina, Kalab, Samantha, Miranda, Kimberly, Khayla, Irvin, Suharri, Marcel, and Brayden; and by her great-great-grandson Devonte.
Mrs. Steingrabe was preceded in death by her husband’s Thomas A. Messersmith, Howard “Bud” Steingrabe; son Edward Scott; daughters Mary Ellen Messersmith, Mary Catherine Kaldy; granddaughter Christina Hurd; Great-grandson Isaiah Taylor; brother Bill Orndorff; and by her sister Erla Hawks.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday evening February 24, 2016 beginning at 7:00 PM at the Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home at 555 East State Street in Sharon, PA. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00PM prior to the service.
Burial will take place at Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lackawannock Township next to her husband Bud.
