Mrs. Helen L. Kennedy formerly of Sharon passed away peacefully on Monday morning November 20, 2017 at Heritage Manor following a period of declining health. She was ninety-five years old.
Helen was born on July 20, 1922 in Sharon to James and Julia (Parker) Mansell. She was a 1940 Graduate of Sharon High School and would go on to marry William W. Kennedy on October 13, 1942. She had worked as a sales clerk for the former Sharon Store, Straus Department Store, Kaufmann’s and Wilson Appliance from where she retired.
Mrs. Kennedy was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years. Helen was also a member of the Shenango Valley Senior Center, the Red Hat Society and had Volunteered for the Sharon Salvation Army.
She is survived by her son Timothy "Curly" Kennedy of Girard, OH; her daughter Diane “Dee” Kennedy of Crescent City, CA; two grandchildren Christopher M. Kennedy and his wife Kelley of Manchester, PA and Timothea L. Kennedy of Davenport, IA; and by her two great-grandchildren Gabby and Cole Kennedy.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Bill who passed away on June 27, 1999, and her sister Elizabeth “Betty” Ulrich.
Funeral services will be held on December 2, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home 555 East State Street in Sharon, PA 16146.
Friends may call one hour prior to the start of the services at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at America’s Cemetery.
