Francis Albert "Hoop" Young
Hoop passed away peacefully in his residence Easter Sunday March 27, 2016.
He was also born on Easter Sunday on April 12, 1925 In Mercer County, PA to Scott and Emeline Mc Connell Young.
He retired from Deans Foods in 1999 after more than 50 years in the Dairy Industry. Following his retirement he worked part time for the Adesa Auto Auctions and as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, always opening the doors for their patrons.
In his younger years, Hoop was a star player on the local farm league baseball team. He was often seen sporting a ball cap and enjoyed watching the local and professional teams.
A recently honored 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge 389 West Middlesex,
Hoop looked forward to volunteering at the Jefferson Township Fair, assisting with bingo, tractor pulls and horse show events. He was always on the hunt for antiques, gifting them to his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters Patricia Young at home, Joyce Young, Donna Marcella and Her husband Ronald, Vicki Shea and her husband Richard and four sons, Kenneth and his wife Myra, Keith, Frederick and his companion Andrea, and Douglas. His pride and joy were his 12 grandchildren, Bonnie Farley, Stefan Marcella, Rebecca, Annette, Sarah, and Erin Podolan, Kenneth, Justin, and Alexis Young, Nicholas Murphy and Aaron Durst, Christina Shea and four great grandchildren, Nathaniel Farley, Taylor, Mia, and Ashlyn Shea.
He is also survived by four brothers Scott, Jack, Norman, and Paden Young, two sisters Zelma Morrison and Janice Lubecki.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 62 years Helen Rae, his daughter Gail and son Donnie, a granddaughter Nicole, his sisters Freda and Helen, and a brother Robert.
Hoop loved helping people, giving to those in need and visiting the sick and lonely.
In keeping with his generous nature, Hoop has chosen to donate his body to science for medical research. For this reason, cremation and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests that any monetary tributes be sent in his memory to The Shenango Valley Children's Transplant Fund, Alzheimer’s research, or a charity of their choosing.
