Elizabeth “Bette” Ann Horsman, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning November 28, 2015 at her home in Hermitage following a period of declining health. She was ninety-four years old.
Bette was born in Sharon on July 14, 1921, the daughter of Earl W. and Bronwen (Davis) Mullen.
She was a 1940 graduate of Sharon High School and where she had been active in several school clubs and activities.
After High School, she worked as a switchboard operator for the Bell Telephone Company in Sharon and later attended comptometer school in Youngstown, Ohio.
On June 1, 1942, she married her husband of sixty-four years William T. Horsman who passed away on September 12, 2006.
During World War II, Bette accompanied her husband to various states while he was in the Army Air Corps military training. She worked as a retail sales clerk in Colorado during this period.
Bette was a founding member of the Farrell Jaycettes and a member of the Knights Templar where she had served as their secretary. She also did volunteer work for the March of Dimes.
Bette was an avid reader of American history and autobiographies and loved traveling to national historical sites. A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker to her family, she inspired her children to these same interests and made family vacations fun and interesting. She also enjoyed making seasonal holiday wreaths and working crossword puzzles.
She will be sadly missed by her son Lawrence W. Horsman and by her daughter Janet L. Horsman both of West Middlesex; and by her brother William E. Mullen of Virginia.
Mrs. Horsman was preceded in death by her by her parents and husband.
Private arrangements are being handled by the Sample- O'Donnell Funeral Home at 555 East State Street in Sharon, PA.
Burial will take place with next to her husband at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon.
