Charles "Bob" R. Hughey

October 30, 1958 — April 10, 2016

SHARON-Charles Robert "Bob" Hughey of Sharon passed away on Sunday April 10, 2016, in his sleep at his home.  He was fifty-seven years old.

Mr. Hughey was born Oct. 30, 1958, in Sharon to his parents, Charles Fremont Hughey and Beatrice Viola (Barber) Hughey.

He graduated from Hickory High School in 1977. His passion for cooking began while in high school, and he was the head chef at numerous Youngstown area restaurants. From 2003-2014 he was the executive chef at The Corinthian in downtown Sharon, preparing memorable meals through which the community celebrated the milestone moments of their lives. Bob was a perfectionist in all of his endeavors, and he loved restoring furniture and homes. The ritual of taking something that had long been forgotten, and giving it a new life though his dedication brought him great pride. The paramount joy of his life, however, was time spent with his children and grandchild: teaching them candors of life through a meal and laughter that was shared. He will be remembered for his altruism for anyone in need, his dedicated work ethic, and his sense of humor. His last day was spent doing what he valued the most in life, baking cookies with his daughter, the light of his life.

His marriage to Brenda Martin, produced his son Cory Robert Hughey in 1982, and his marriage to Lisa Jurczenko, brought his son Chase Ryan Hughey in 1985 and his daughter Alexandra Kristina Hughey in 1994. He was a proud member of AA and achieved sobriety for the past year.

He is survived by his children; his grandchild, Kobe Wayne Hughey; his siblings, Charlene Davis and her husband Robert, and Patricia Wakeford; his nieces and nephews, Eric Davis and his wife Suzie, Aaron Davis, Courtney Wakeford, and Chad Wakeford; his great-nieces and nephews, Delaney Webster, Davis Adams, Ethan Davis, and Maddy Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Butch Wakeford; and his best friend, Annabelle of Windsor “Annie” Hughey, his Old English Sheepdog.

A private ceremony to honor his life will be held by his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huntington Bank, 3250 Shenango Valley Fwy, Hermitage, PA16146, or sent to Robert Davis, 4212 Blue Jay Drive, Sharpsville PA 16148, towards his daughter's education, which is what he would have wished.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home 555 East State Street in Sharon, PA.
