Charles W. Herald

HERMITAGE-Charles W. Herald, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning March 9, 2016 in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.  He was eighty-one years old.

He was born in Chicago, IL on July 29, 1934 the son of Charles W. and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Herald.   "Bill" was a 1953 graduate of Sharon High School and had attended Youngstown State University.  He found work at the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. where he would retire from in 1984 after twenty years of dedicated service working as a welder.

"Bill" was a member of the American Legion Post #299 and the Elks #103 both in Sharon.  He loved playing golf, playing cards especially Euchre at the legion hall and was a dedicated Volunteer at the Buhl Club.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of over sixty-three years the former Faye Helper who survives at home; three sons Kurt Herald and his wife Sue Ann of Sharon, Dennis Herald and his wife Rene of Carlsbad, CA, Bill Herald of Sharon; his two daughters Sue Bentley and her husband Patrick of Farrell, and Catherine McSherry and her husband Paul of Sharon; seven grandchildren Samuel, Joshua, Rebecca, Dennafaye, Charles, Lee, Travis, and Faith; six great-grandchildren Conner, Allison, Aiden, Madison, Mila, Daphney; his sisters Marie Madden of North Carolina, Anella Ogden and her husband Jim and Theresa Eichman both of California; and by his beloved granddogs Tucker, Belle and Oliver.

"Bill" was preceded in death by parents and by his sister Helen Burns.

Friends are welcome to gather with the family on Friday evening March 25, 2016 evening from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home at 555 East State Street in Sharon, PA.
