Antoinette “Toni” Marie Wooten, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday evening November 4, 2015 following an extended illness. She was seventy-three years old.
Afectionatly known as Toni by everyone, she was born at the Sharon Hospital on June 23, 1942 a daughter of Fred and Marie (Pugliese) D’Onofrio.
Toni was a lifelong resident of the Shenango Valley and had attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and was a class of 1960 graduate of Hickory High School. Following high school she went on to earn her Bachelors of Science in Education at Slippery Rock State College graduating in 1965. It was during her time at Slippery Rock that Toni met her future husband Barry J. Wooten and together they were united in marriage at Notre Dame Catholic Church on August 20, 1966.
Mrs. Wooten taught in the Baden Economy School District and the Hermitage School District. After she and Barry started a family in 1969 she retired from education and became an extraordinarily dedicated mother to her four growing children and a committed homemaker. Toni made a house into a home with her large heart and talented cooking skills.
Toni was also an accomplished porcelain and china painter but her proudest achievement was always her family.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of forty-nine years Barry at home; her four children and seven grandchildren Carl Wooten and his wife Kimberly and their children Bryn and Annika of Colorado Springs, CO, Barry Wooten Jr. and his wife Jenelle and their children Kade and Sloan of Elimsport, PA, Brad Wooten of Virginia Beach, VA, and Cara Sayer and her children Reese, Burke, and Trigg of Gulf Breeze, FL. Toni is also survived by her brother August D’Onofrio of Hermitage, PA and by her sister Lorrie DeMay of Albuquerque, NM.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents.
According to her wishes private arrangements are under the direction of the Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home 555 East State Street Sharon, PA.
